Add a third kid, and families of five find it trickier to accommodate their brood with rental cars, hotel rooms and, yes, cruise cabins. But some cruise lines are attuned to larger families than others, offering accommodations that can sleep five. All 3 Dream class ships plus the Vista have deluxe oceanview rooms that can sleep 5.

However, interior room benefits like Cloud 9 Spa or Havana Pool access are exclusive to their designated rooms. Some have spa-related perks or access to exclusive lounges and pools. Room decor varies, but noise level can be an issue due to proximity to ship’s activities. Overall, the size and bed configuration of Interior rooms provide a comfortable and budget-friendly option for those who prioritize activities over cabin amenities. From Cloud 9 Spa access to exclusive pool areas, there’s a lot to consider when booking an interior room. Now that we have explored the room categories and features, let’s discuss any additional amenities and services specifically catered to guests staying in 5 person rooms. Next time we cruise or go on a vacation, I'll consider booking separate rooms for adults and kids so everyone has their own private retreat. If you’re looking for the greatest room on the ship, look up.

We were on the Paradise back in Sept of 06 and we had 5 in our room. We were not in our room much so it did not bother us at all. Two of the kids are 18 and 19 so I would say 4 adults and 1 13 year old.The other adult was my sister so five ladies. Yes, Paradise can accomodate 5 people in an inside 4A (cheapest category) cabin. You do not have to have a higher priced cabin to accomodate 5 people, but it will be very close quarters. If its possible for the 5 of us ( specifically my wife, 3 year old son, grandma, grandpa and myself ) to fit into one cabin....then I would prefer it over getting 2 seperate cabins.
Note that on some Carnival ships, specific categories of balcony cabins have larger balconies than most. These are wonderful for sitting out and watching the waves. Often these rooms are at the back of the ships overlooking the wake. Note that Carnival's two oldest ships — those that are part of the 1990s-built Fantasy Class — have relatively few balcony cabins by today's standards. With that, we have covered the tips for booking 5 person rooms on cruise ships. It’s important to note that the availability of these amenities and services can vary depending on the cruise line, ship, and itinerary.

Third, fourth and fifth passengers sharing a cabin typically pay reduced cruise fares and sometimes can access promotional free fares. However, the cruise line will still charge daily gratuities, port fees and government taxes for all passengers, even if sailing for free. "People will call eight months out and I'll say it's too late," says Alton.

Every one of the suites in those categories is bigger than any suite found on Carnival Panorama. The Presidential Suites are among 180 suites you will find on Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, the most ever for a Carnival ship. One exception is the new Carnival Venezia, which has a darker (faux) wood finish to furniture in cabins that ties into the ship's Italy theme. Also, if you're flying to your cruise, vacation-week airfare to popular cruise ports will become more expensive the longer you wait to book.

If you have health or mobility challenges, Carnival proudly welcomes you on board. You’ll find plenty of accessible staterooms from which to choose, whether you are traveling with a wheelchair, scooter or another device. Consider staying in the midship section where you’ll find extra elevators. Slightly smaller are a dozen 710-square-foot Excel Corner Suites offering separate sleeping and lounging areas and wraparound balconies. A step down are six smaller Excel Suites that measure 614 square feet. As noted above, Carnival ships generally don't offer a lot of suites.
Size and Bed Configuration
I looked into these cabins before being persuaded on here to go with to adjoining connecting rooms. We ended up booking 2 rooms and I think it will be for the best. Our cabins were small but offered a lot of storage that made them feel more spacious. Our cabin seemed too cold, and the kids' space seemed too warm. Carnival Elation suite perks include priority check-in and debarkation; priority Main Dining Room time assignment; two large bottles of water; pillowtop mattresses, and bathrobes.
Also helpful with 4 and maybe even 3, but all the deluxe ocean view rooms have the extra partial bathroom, even the ones designated for just two guests. Down on deck 1, Carnival Magic has a short row of Deluxe Ocean View cabins near the stern on both sides of the ship that each hold 5 people in one room. Other than suites and a few odd shaped or accessible cabins, Ocean View cabins are often the biggest staterooms on a cruise ship. Many of them occupy the same space as a balcony cabin, except that the space taken up by a balcony becomes indoor space. Most of the line's older ships offer family suites that sleep five or more, but five-person families looking for standard cabins will have to settle for connecting cabins.
While Junior Suites have bathrooms with showers, the remaining suite types have bathrooms with bathtub/shower combinations. When staying in a cruise ship cabin with 5 people in it, things will get messy. We made sure to pick up everything off the floor twice a day before leaving the room when it was near time for the steward to clean.
There were 4 more people cruising with us staying in other rooms. At times we had all 9 in our room since it was the biggest. With the 3 lower beds as well as a stool everyone found somewhere to sit. 5 people in a cabin makes a lot more work for the steward, but ours was always cheerful and helpful.
But like others have said there's no room on the floor. I would not want to be near your cabin if you plan on playing in the hallway with your 2 y/o nephew while the others shower/get ready. We are doing 5 in a cabin this January on the Triumph, we are never in our cabin so not to concerned. Plus, I have a 2 y/o nephew coming with us, so we just take turns playing in the hallway with him while the others shower/get ready and it works out well.
On newer Carnival ships, a significant portion of cabins are balcony cabins — the rooms everyone wants these days. But the ratio of balcony cabins to non-balcony cabins on Carnival's newer ships isn't nearly as high as on the newer ships of some rival lines such as Royal Caribbean. When choosing between connecting cabins, a family cabin or suite, ask your agent to price out various options.
It’s Carnival’s couch beds that are not so comfortable. The two Scenic Ocean View cabins available on Carnival Elation feature more space at 230 square feet, but also floor-to-ceiling windows. Accommodating up to two passengers, these staterooms usually have a table with two chairs and a nightstand.
No matter what age your kids, there’s plenty of onboard entertainment that lets your family interact with favorite childhood characters and games. Carnival's newer ships have relatively few such cabins, as generally cabins that face outwards now are built with balconies. But older Carnival ships are loaded with oceanview cabins. Design-wise, Carnival's cabins and suites are fairly basic and comfortable, if not super stylish. Cabins on recently unveiled or overhauled vessels mostly have a soothing palette of creams and blues.
